About Sniper99

Sniper99 is an avid airgun enthusiast whose focus is hunting. Sniper99 has hunted various types of animals. While he originally hunted with powder burners for years, he soon became drawn to the simplicity of being able to humanely take down game with something as simple as air. Air when compressed, can give high velocities and is an interesting science in itself.

  1. Hi, I really like your website and have learned alot from it as well from the yellow forum. I am new to PCP airguns and would like to get into bigbore airguns. I know that there is a lengthy wait on Quakenbush airguns as I have been waiting for the status on his website to change for almost two years now. My next option is considering the Sam Yang 909 or 909s. First of all what can you tell me from personal experience with this rifle. I have seen some good reviews overall. Also do you know if the single airtube model has less or more capacity than the double tube one. If you can give me any advice that would be awesome., I plan on using this for Deer and hogs and other medium sized game within 50-60 yards.
    Thanks,
    don H

  2. Welcome and thanks for stopping by. the Sam Yang 909 is an awesome rifle. as you may know , the 909 is a 45 cal rifle and you will have alot of bullets to choose from. The double tube has more capacity. I have had great accuracy using 454 cal round ball out of mine. this rifle would be a great deer rifle. You will be able to take Hogs and any medium game with no problem. you may also want to check out the American Airgun Hunter web site. Jim Chapman has a story on there where he took a deer with one. good luck and let me know when you get yours.

  3. You have opened my eyes to alot of things. I have really enjoyed your website as well as your videos. I look forward to getting into the world of high powered air guns.

  4. Hello,
I was looking for a large caliber air rifle…something with a low report so that if there is other game in the area it won’t scare them away. I was thinking big bore as in big enough to take down a small coyote, or large rabbit. This gun blows me away! What game animals have you taken with your rifle? I have yet to pick one up, but was wondering if you could make any suggestions on which is the best rifle you have shot? You have obviously been doing this a lot longer than I, and I would appreciate any feedback you can give!!!
    Thanks for your time,
    Kevin

  5. Just remember Kevin, unfortunatley with big power it always comes with a big boom. The Sam Yang 909 is awesome rifle. I have taken wild bore, countless jackrabbits. I wouldnt hesitate in using it to hunt deer and coyotes. It has more power than you think. And with practice, you can kill a coyote at 100 yds easily. My 909, and my wife’s love .454 caliber roundballs. My wife shoots my 909 better than I do. She can stack roundballs on top of each other at 50yds (not exaggerating, the rifle is just that accurate) Fill the gun to 3200 PSI and that’s when you should see the real power. Should be able to easily get 195-200 fpe with the double tubed version 909 (which is the best in my opinion)

Good luck and let me know what happens. Hopefully, I’ll be taking the 909 to the range soon and will have more numbers.

Keep your tank filled, and a pellet loaded,

  6. Hey Sniper99,
How’s it going? I just wanted to say what’s up. My name is Scott and I have learned a lot from reading and watching your stuff. I have since gotten a sumatra carbine in .22, a 500cc sumatra in .25, and a 909 double tube. Needless to say, I’m loving it. It’s good to see another brother involved in this hobby/ addiction.
    Take care
